Programs at Merit Health
Northwest Hills is one of Austin’s steadier, more established neighborhoods, hilltop streets, mature oak canopies, a view of the Hill Country from the right driveway. It’s the kind of place that looks, from the outside, like everything is under control. Merit Wellness works with men from Northwest Hills who know that what a neighborhood looks like and what a person is actually carrying are two very different things.
A Neighborhood Built for Stability
Developed from the 1950s through the 1990s and anchored by Far West Boulevard, Northwest Hills has long been one of Austin’s more affluent, settled communities, close enough to MoPac (Loop 1) and Loop 360 for an easy commute downtown or to the tech corridor near The Domain, but quiet enough to still feel removed from it. Many residents have built careers, families, and reputations here. That’s exactly the kind of life where quietly struggling is easiest to hide.
When "Fine" Isn't the Whole Story
The men we work with from Northwest Hills are often the ones holding a lot together: a career, a household, a public version of themselves that functions well. Underneath that, we frequently see chronic stress, disconnection from a spouse or kids, unprocessed history that shows up as irritability or numbness, or the quiet sense of having achieved what you were supposed to and still feeling stuck. Merit Wellness's outpatient model, built around clinical care, physical wellness, and structured life coaching, is designed for exactly this kind of high-functioning, low-visibility struggle.
Merit Wellness is based in Austin, with straightforward access via MoPac, making it a manageable trip from Northwest Hills for weekly sessions, IOP-level programming, or a first consultation.
Clinical Care, Wellness, and Coaching, In One Program
Every man’s plan at Merit Wellness combines evidence-based clinical therapy, physical and experiential wellness work, and structured life coaching across nine domains of life. It’s not weekly talk therapy in isolation; it’s a coordinated program built around how men actually engage with change.

Testimonials
The most powerful proof of our program is the lives changed within it. These testimonials share how men found strength, connection, and a renewed sense of purpose through treatment.
“I rebuilt my identity.”
“The level of care here is exceptional. Every part of the program felt intentional—from the clinical work to the physical wellness and group connection. I didn’t just recover from addiction, I rebuilt my identity.”
Luke W.
“Foundation of my recovery.”
“For years I thought asking for help made me weak. This place taught me the opposite. Vulnerability, discipline, and connection became the foundation of my recovery, and it changed my relationship with myself and my family.”
Hank T.
“Helped me become the man I wanted to be.”
“This program helped me do more than get sober—it helped me become the man I wanted to be. The structure, accountability, and support from both the staff and the other men changed everything for me.”
Frans M.
“Real sense of purpose.”
“I had been to treatment before, but this was different. Being in a men-only environment allowed me to drop the mask and deal with the things I’d been avoiding for years. I left with tools, confidence, and a real sense of purpose.”
Mike L.
