Programs at Merit Health
Merit Wellness’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed for men who need meaningful clinical support and real structure, without stepping away from their work, their family, or their daily life. It is a serious level of care delivered in a way that fits the reality of adult life.
Our IOP is a men’s-only mental health program offering multiple treatment sessions per week, combining clinical therapy, physical wellness, and structured life coaching in our signature three-pillar format. It is the right level of care for men who are ready to do the work and would benefit from consistent, immersive support, but who do not need the intensity of a Partial Hospitalization Program or a residential setting.
Learn More About Our Program
An Intensive Outpatient Program is a structured, multi-day-per-week treatment model that sits between standard outpatient therapy and Partial Hospitalization. Participants attend multiple sessions each week, typically three to five days, for several hours per day, engaging in group therapy, individual clinical work, and supplementary programming.
IOP is appropriate for men who have completed a PHP or higher level of care and are stepping down, men who need more than weekly therapy but can safely live at home, and men who are managing mental health challenges while maintaining professional or personal responsibilities.
Creating men who can contribute, not just cope.
What distinguishes Merit Wellness IOP from other outpatient programs in Texas is the integration of clinical care, wellness, and life coaching into a single, coherent program. Clients do not receive generic group therapy and a referral list. They receive a full, personalized program built around their specific mental health needs, their goals, and the nine life domains our coaching curriculum addresses.
Clinical Therapy
Our clinical programming includes individual therapy with a licensed clinician, trauma-informed group therapy, and psychoeducation focused on the nervous system, emotional regulation, relational patterns, and healthy masculinity. We use a bottom-up approach throughout, beginning with somatic awareness and nervous system regulation, then building toward deeper emotional and cognitive work.
Wellness Programming
Physical movement is integrated into the IOP schedule as a clinical and wellness tool, not an add-on. Experiential therapy and physical activity are woven into the weekly rhythm of the program, supporting nervous system regulation, building body awareness, and providing practical stress management that clients can carry into their daily lives.
Life Coaching & Mentorship
Our curriculum-based life coaching works alongside clinical care to help men identify where they are stuck in their lives and build a concrete, motivationally sound path forward. Working across nine life domains, including relationships, career, finances, purpose, and personal growth, coaching sessions are practical, goal-oriented, and grounded in sustainable motivation rather than shame or pressure.
Who We Help
Merit Wellness IOP is designed for men between the ages of 22 and 35 dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, identity challenges, or behavioral patterns rooted in unresolved mental health. It is particularly well-suited for men in a “failure to launch” pattern, those who are capable and intelligent but stuck, disconnected, or struggling to build momentum in their personal or professional lives.
IOP is not appropriate for men requiring around-the-clock supervision or those managing active psychosis or severely dysregulated mood disorders. If you are uncertain whether IOP is the right level of care, our clinical team will assess your needs thoroughly and recommend the appropriate fit.
