Learn More About Our Program
For men who need significant clinical support, structured daily programming, and intensive therapeutic engagement, but who do not require 24-hour residential care, Partial Hospitalization is the highest level of outpatient care available at Merit Wellness.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides full-day, five-day-per-week programming that combines clinical therapy, physical wellness, and structured life coaching in a deeply immersive format. PHP is designed for men who are ready to make significant change and who will benefit from a focused, full-time investment in their mental health.
Discover Levels of Care
A Partial Hospitalization Program is a structured treatment model in which clients attend programming for most of the day, most days of the week, typically five days per week, five to six hours per day. It delivers the clinical intensity of inpatient or residential care within an outpatient framework, allowing clients to return home or to supported housing in the evenings.
PHP is appropriate for men who are stepping down from inpatient or residential care and need a strong bridge to outpatient treatment, men in acute mental health distress who need more than IOP can provide, or men who have not responded adequately to lower levels of care and need an elevated clinical focus to achieve stabilization and growth.
Our Unique Program
Merit Wellness PHP is not a generic group therapy schedule. It is a fully integrated clinical, wellness, and coaching experience, our three-pillar model delivered at the highest intensity we offer. Each client arrives with an individualized treatment plan built around his specific clinical needs and life circumstances, and programming is designed to deliver real depth and momentum from day one.
PHP clinical programming includes daily group therapy, multiple individual therapy sessions per week, and psychoeducation focused on the nervous system, trauma, emotional regulation, and relational health. Our bottom-up therapeutic model means we work from the body up, building somatic awareness and nervous system regulation as the foundation for deeper emotional and cognitive work. Our trauma-informed approach ensures that the pace and structure of treatment honor each client’s readiness and window of tolerance.
Physical movement, experiential therapy, and body-based practices are embedded throughout the PHP schedule. This is not recreation programming. It is clinically intentional, designed to build nervous system capacity, develop body awareness, reduce physiological stress, and give clients practical, embodied tools for regulation that they can use inside and outside of treatment.
How We Help and Support
Full-day programming requires a stable, supportive place to land at the end of the day. Merit Wellness offers housing options for PHP clients who benefit from structured evening supervision, peer community, and a sober, supportive living environment, without the round-the-clock intensity of residential care. For men who are in early recovery from mental health crises, or who simply need more structure than their current home environment provides, supported housing can be a critical part of a successful PHP experience.
Helping Ease Transitions
PHP at Merit Wellness is designed as the starting point of a continuum, not a standalone episode. Most PHP clients transition to our Intensive Outpatient Program as they stabilize and build capacity, maintaining clinical and coaching support while progressively resuming more of their normal life. We manage this transition thoughtfully, ensuring each client steps down when he is genuinely ready, not because his time is up.
Healing doesn’t happen in isolation.
PHP is designed for men between 22 and 35 whose mental health challenges are significantly impairing their functioning and who have not achieved adequate stability through less intensive treatment. Common presentations include significant depression or anxiety, unresolved trauma, complex behavioral patterns, and the kind of pervasive stuckness and disconnection that characterizes failure to launch at its most acute.
To determine whether PHP is the appropriate level of care for you, the first step is a confidential consultation and comprehensive clinical assessment.
